The historical Coal Gas Factory in Alsancak, built by the French 150 years ago, has become a brand new culture and arts venue following the restoration and landscaping works carried out by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

Within the scope of the Gas Factory Restoration Project, all buildings except registered buildings with a construction area of ​​2,850 square meters in an area of ​​24 thousand square meters were demolished. Registered buildings that were restored in accordance with their original form began to be used as cultural venue.
